WORKSHOP OUTLINE

 

 

This programme will be highly interactive, with a mix of theory and practical sessions. You will have the opportunity to share your experience, learn from others through group discussions and you will develop your skills through a series of individual and group exercises.  A breakdown of what will happen on each day follows:

DAY 1

Themed, "Getting Started", Day 1 will introduce participants to the knuts and bolts of proposal writing undergirded by exposure to practical exercises and networking sessions.  This promises to be a full day and will comprise the following:

Elements of the Proposal

  • Cover letter

  • Project Title

  • Executive Summary

  • Introduction, Overview of Organizational Capacity

  • Problem Statement and Needs Assessment

  • Goals & Objectives

  • Key Personnel

  • Monitoring and Evaluation Plan

  • Sustainability Plan

  • Work Plan & Budget

 

Planning to Develop the Proposal

Building Credibility

Using Outlines

Cultivating Contacts

Developing the Problem Statement (Group Activity)

 

The Logical Framework Analysis – Introduction and Application

  • Definition and Advantages

  • When to use the Logical Framework Analysis

  • Elements of the Logical Framework

    • Goal, Objectives, Expected Results, Activities

    • Objectively Verifiable Indicators (OVIs), Sources and Means of Verification (MOVs), Assumptions, Risks

DAY 2

A "Deeper Dive" is the order of the day for Day 2 where participants will spend at least 75% of the day engaging in practical exercises while each individual wotk on their respective proposals and Logical Frameworks".  A glimpse of Day 2's schedule is below:

DAY 3

"Interacting with Local and International Donors" is the highlight of Day 3 as members of the donor community will deliver relevant and timely presentations as well as participate in the panel discussion.  Donors will be addressing the following issues:

Creating SMART Objectives

Can you Sell it in a Minute? & Donors’ Response (Special Pitching Session)
